Mary Addison Cunningham

Ms. Mary Addison Cunningham, 83 , of Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Huntersville Oaks in Huntersville, NC. She was born on December 21, 1936 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Will Kilgo Addison and the late Marjorie Bines Addison.

Mary married the late Hal Cunningham they moved to Virginia. Mary worked in a hair salon for many years; she became a certified nursing assistant in August 1969 and worked at Powhatan Nursing Center for over 30 years, she loved her residents, they thought Mary should not have a day off because no one else could care for them like Mary. After Mary retired and her health began to decline she relocatedback to Shelby.Mary was a very cheerful and happy person she loved good soul music she especially loved Smoky Robinson and her favorite songs was "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, by Otis Redding, and Hello Stranger by Barbara Lewis" and her favorite was "I am 29 and holding," Mary always had a smile on her face. Mary loved her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in deathby six brothers, Jim Addison, Kilgore Addison, Willie Louis Addison, James "J D" Addison, Maurice Addison, Thomas Addison, and one sister Martha Addison Lawson.

She leaves to cherish fond memories,her sons Jackie Cunningham (Debra)of Shelby, and Harold Curtis Cunningham, of Dayton, Ohio two brothers Fred Addison, of Dayton, Ohio and Dock Addison( Saundra)of Shelby, Sister in laws Inez Addison of Arlington VA, brother in law Henry Lawton. Her beloved grandchildren, Shannon Cunningham (caregiver), Jay Cunningham, IrisHamilton (Rufus),all of Shelby, Eva Brewton of Gaffney, SC, Lee ShellCunningham of Shelby, and Tiffany Cunningham of Dayton, Ohio. Ten great grand children, one great great grandson, special friends Eunice and Harold Mintz,of Shelby, Edna Rameyof Maryland,and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The memorial service for Ms. Cunningham will be private. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
