Mary Christine Blanton, 82, passed away September 2, 2023 at Atrium Health in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on December 25, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles Durham Canipe and Vera McMahan Hoyle. In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Durham Canipe and Kenneth Ray Walker and sister Barbara Canipe Beam.

Christine was a longtime member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church in Shelby. She had a deep, unspoken love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren each being unique in its own way.

Christine is survived by her son Robbie Scism and wife Sandra, daughter Tammy Scism, as well as a half brother, Curtis Hoyle. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Colter and Heather, three great grandchildren and two nieces and three nephews.

The family will hold services privately.
