Mary "Cornelia" Eskridge Putnam, age 70, died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on December 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James David Eskridge Sr. and wife Pauline Poole Eskridge. She was a member of Mt Whitaker Baptist Church and she enjoyed her flower garden, cooking for her family and traveling.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Lark Eskridge and beloved canine, Sampson.

Cornelia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dan Putnam of Shelby, one son Daniel Putnam of Shelby, one brother, Jimmy Eskridge of Shelby, niece Stephanie Queen and husband Joey of Fallston, Uncle Gene Eskridge of Shelby, Aunt Betty Jordan of Rocky Mount, as well as two cousins; Dr. David Jordan and wife Wanda of Burlington and Joyce Fortenberry of Shelby.

Funeral Service will be held 11 Wednesday, October 17 2018 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Michael Owen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
