Mary Denise Newton Melton, 63, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on March 21, 1959, she was a daughter of Myrtle Rowe Cockrell of Anderson, SC and the late J.C. Newton.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Glenn Melton.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Faith Cook and husband Jason of Conover, Meagan Dixon and husband Derek of Kings Mountain and Heather Hunsinger of Shelby; one brother, James Cockrell of Pickens, SC; two sisters, Renee Ledford of Shelby and Tracy Sander of Anderson, SC; ten grandchildren, Jordan Newton, Taylor Newton, Lane Pruitt, Corbin Hunsinger, Kaitlyn Pruitt, Makayla Marshall, Madison Marshall, Elijah Hunsinger, Layla Hunsinger and Raven Hunsinger and one great grandchild, Aiden Newton.

A graveside service will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cleveland Memorial Park with Mr. Kyle Sander officiating.
