Mrs. Mary Jane Edwards Sims, 75 of 118 Victor Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. She was born on August 30, 1944 in Cleveland County N.C. to the late Zay Dock and Mary Eaves Edwards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sims; her daughter, Lataya Sims; her granddaughter, Kendria Fulton; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Edwards Martin and Evelyn Ellen Edwards; four brothers, Charles William Edwards, Carl Eddie Edwards, Willard Edwards and Richard Edwards; paternal grandparents, Bryant and Mary Jane Logan Edwards; maternal grandparents, Guy and Alpha Louvenia McAfee Eaves and nieces, Carla Marie Edwards and Tasha Edwards.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Acorea Darren Sims (fiancé, Bobby Smith) of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Nayshaun Camp and Aaleiyah Camp both of the home; her siblings, Emile Rice of Shelby, NC, Margaret Freeman of Kingstown, NC and Julia Edwards, Janet Edwards, Linda Edwards and Jerry Edwards all of Boiling Springs, NC; two great-nieces and one great-nephew that she helped raised, Kasondra Wright of Charlotte, NC, Tyrell Wright of Spartanburg, SC and Asia Wright of Boiling Springs; her caretakers, great-niece, Shantel Martin of Boiling Springs and Shirley Holland of Shelby; one aunt, Corine Cabaniss of Shelby; three sisters-in-law, Linda Gidney Edwards of Providence, RI, Hazel Lattimore Sims and Sarah Lattimore Sims both of Lawndale, NC; four brothers-in-law, James Earl Sims and Matthew Sims both of Shelby and Willie George (Beatrice) and Charles Sims both of Lawndale; best friends, Catherine Reynolds of Lawndale and Wilda "Mott Kilgore-Barringer of Orange, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Green Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
