Mary Lee Causby McSwain

Mary Lee Causby McSwain, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, May 10, 2021 at Peak Resources of Cherryville.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born on April 21, 1945 to the late Leonard Stanley Causby and the late Anna Catherine Jones Causby. Mary Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard McSwain of Shelby, a son, Shane McSwain (Jennifer) of Chapel Hill, NC, and a daughter, Leslie McSwain of Shelby. Also left to cherish sweet memories of their grandmother are grandson Adrian McSwain of Shelby, and granddaughters Amiya McSwain of Shelby, and Josie and Tess McSwain of Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice Causby Hester (Roger) of Sanford, NC, and Diane Causby Edwards (Mike) of Mooresboro, NC, two brothers-in-law, Randy McSwain (Sarah) and Roger McSwain (Janet) both of Shelby, two aunts, Margaret Causby and Judy DeLozier both of Shelby, one uncle, Lewis Jones of Boiling Springs as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Though we will greatly miss our loved one, we know she is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. What a great reunion it was in Heaven on Monday evening when she was greeted by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were waiting for her with open arms!

Mary Lee was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby where she served her beloved Jesus as a member of the church choir. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 18, at Bethel Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Dr. Tim Sims. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to The Bethel Baptist Church Los Llanol DR Church Plant c/o Bethel Baptist Church, 606 S. Dekalb St., Shelby, NC 28150.
