Mary Lou Bridges Daves

Mary Lou Bridges Daves, age 85, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at her home in Boiling Springs. Born in Cleveland County on March 6, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Morris Bridges and Lallage Brooks Bridges. She liked painting, and crocheting, gifting many of her works to her family and friends and also loved being outside, especially in the garden. Mary Lou "Nanny" was well known for her baking, and helped to make all of the wedding cakes for both her children and grandchildren. Her family was the highlight of her life particularly her grand and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ray Daves, five brothers; Daniel Bridges, Irvin Bridges, Herman Bridges, Kenneth Bridges, and Perry Bridges as well as three sisters; Nora Greene, Martha Beason and Aileen Crowe.

Mary is survived by two sons; Jimmy Ray Daves and wife Judy of Gaffney, SC and Bill Daves and wife Julie, two daughters, Lisa McFarland, and Betty Daves all of Boiling Springs. Seven grandchildren; Melanie Williams and husband Brian, Ashley Russ and husband Wesley, O.J. McFarland and wife Lauren, Catie Stitzel and husband Austin, Adam McFarland and wife Kristy Caleb McFarland and wife Haylee, Laura Toms and husband Frank. Four sisters-in-law, Ann Bridges and Marjorie Bridges both of Boiling Springs, Frances Horn of Tryon and Saralyn Daves of Mooresboro, as well as twelve great-grandchildren; Dylan, Marcus, Caroline, Kerry and Britney Williams, Becca and Maggie Champion and Grady Nodine, Charlotte Russ, Will and Liza Stitzel, Emmy McFarland. The family would like to offer their deep appreciation for the help Hospice has provided to them as well as special relatives, Jennifer, Ann, Denita, Melanie, and Suzie.

Funeral service will be held 10:00am Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Bonnie Doughtie officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9am until 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.
