Mary Saundra White Humphries, 88, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on, Monday, June 1, 1936, the daughter of the late Roy Thompson and Manta Roxanna Horton White. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, one sister, Tommie Scism, Brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Geneva Humphries, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marceline and Gene LaGrand, sister-in-law, Rebecca Humphries, father and mother-in-law, Russell Lee and Blanche Humphries.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dean Humphries of the home, three daughters, Jane Leese and husband Ken of Raleigh, NC, Janet Sanders and husband Danny of Shelby, and Kelly Grubb and husband Gregg of Shelby, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three nephews.
Saundra was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church for 66 years. As a member, she was active in the yearly barbeque and The Come to Bethlehem play, also she sang in the choir and served in the nursery for many years. She was a great biscuit maker and made the best-ever pound cakes. For many years, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the medical field.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church from 1-2 pm
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at, Sandy Plains Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Elisabeth Cothran and Rev. David Webb. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
