Mary Sue Deveney Allen, age 92, of Kings Mountain, NC, peacefully entered the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

She was born on July 14, 1930, to the late Lee and Ocie Mae Wells Deveney.

On October 19, 1947, Sue married Wiley Allen, and they were the parents of three children. Sue and Wiley were married for 74 loving years. They made their life in Kings Mountain, and she worked for Baxter Corporation in Shelby for many years.

During her life, she enjoyed gardening and canning, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and sharing her faith with others. Sue and Wiley enjoyed traveling with friends from David Baptist Church. Sue loved God and sought to serve and honor him in many ways. Sue taught Sunday School classes and was a member of many committees and prayer chains.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, and her three older brothers- Worth Deveney, Stowe Deveney, and JC Deveney. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Scism, and husband David, her daughter Jean Moore and husband Pete, son Joe Allen and wife Bridget, and eight granddaughters, Catherine Ware, Shellie Doubleday, Kelly Moore, Angie Cavazos, Caroline Allen, Ana Faith Allen, Elyse Allen, and Lyla Allen. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Reece Ware, Stockton Ware, Presley Ware, Vivian Cavazos, Noah Cavazos, and Daniel Cavazos.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 2 pm at David Baptist Church Cemetery, in Kings Mountain.
