Matthew Cody Whisnant, age 31, passed away April 11, 2022.

Born in Cleveland County on January 7, 1991, he was the son of Starlyn Sims and James Lee Whisnant, Jr. In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his siblings, Lee Whisnant (Chastity), Jennifer Osganian (Greg), Tucker Whisnant (Blair) and nephews Nolan Osganian and Warren Whisnant. Cody is also survived by his grandparents, Ernest and Judy Sims and numerous loving family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Friday April 15, 2022 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday April 16, 2022 at Sulphur Springs CHC 2957 US Highway 221 South Forest City, NC 28043 with Pastor Kevin Bradley officiating.
