Matthew Eric Greenway, age 40, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away
surrounded by family and friends on March 7, 2018 after a long battle
with cancer. He is survived by his very special friend Stacie Garrison
of Lake Wylie, SC, his parents Brad and Melanie Greenway of
Rutherfordton, NC, his sister Amanda Greenway and her husband Jesse
Bender of Fairview, NC, his grandparents Thomas and Ruth Greenway of
Green Creek, NC and many beloved uncles, aunts and cousins. Matthew
especially loved his fur babies Catalina and Banjo. He was predeceased
by his grandparents James A. Johnson and Ruby M. Johnson of Polk
County, NC.
Matthew was employed by American Airlines at the Charlotte Douglas
International Airport in Charlotte, NC. He considered his co-workers
his second family and they were a constant source of strength and
comfort during his life and his illness. He was also co-owner of G2
Soaps in Lake Wylie, SC. Matthew will be best remembered for his
compassion and for his unfailing sense of humor.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Monday March 12, 2018
at Spencer Baptist Church in Spindale, NC at 11:00 a.m. The family
will receive friends after the service.
