Mrs. Mattie Odessa Briscoe Stroud, 69, of Kingstown, NC, was born March 2, 1956 in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Marion and Bessie Mae Briscoe. She departed this life on December 20, 2025 at Wendover Hospice, Shelby, surrounded by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her three brothers, Vernon, Albert, and Carvet Briscoe.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 21 years, Marvin Stroud of Kingstown, NC; children, Tamara Briscoe of Shelby, NC and Ricky Briscoe (Lateshia) of Ellenwood, GA; God daughter, Shirliria Perkins of Kingstown, NC; and God son Demari Hopper of Gastonia, NC; brothers, Leroy Briscoe (Peggy) and Lloyd Briscoe, both of Kingstown, NC; sisters, Elizabeth Peeler and Bernice Peeler, both of Hickory, NC; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, 2025, at Palmer Grove Baptist Church. Burial took place in the church cemetery.
