May Helen Dorsey Hayes, 71, passed away on May 17, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on July 10, 1954, in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Charles London and Pearlie May Dorsey Taylor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Johnny Hayes; siblings, Vernie Smith and Shirley Moses; and aunt, Annie Mae Dorsey.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Sherman Dorsey (Tomiko Friday) of Shelby, NC and Shawn Dorsey (Tonya) of Gaffney, SC; sisters Brenda Hardy and Gloria Smith of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, Dashawn Dorsey, caregiver, of the home, Tiesha Camp, Matrice Sweezy, Brenda Dorsey, Diona Rice, Shawnkiela Camp, Benjamin Camp, Denzel Shell, Brenden Dorsey; great grandchildren, Dashawn 'Deuce' Dorsey, also considered her best friend; and Eden Dorsey, Brannon Lark, Aaron Collins, Londyn Dorsey, Ky'anna Camp; good friends, Sharon Ager and Betty Ager; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Canaan Memorial Baptist Church with burial at Sunset Cemetery.
