Mazalene Morrow Jordan

Mazalene Morrow Jordan, 82, formerly of 1206 Dodge Street, Shelby, NC, passed away on October 20, 2024, at The Greens of Gastonia Nursing Facility in Gastonia, NC.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Cleveland County, NC on November 20, 1941 to the late Thomasene and Molean Corry Morrow.

Mrs. Jordan was her parents' oldest child and grew up in the Shoal Creek area. She graduated from Camp High School in 1960. She joined Shoal Creek Baptist Church at an early age and sang on the choirs and worked on the kitchen committee. As an educator, she served as a foster grandparent and retired from James Love School. She also worked at FASCO and Universal Manufacturing.
Mrs. Jordan loved the Lord. She was highly sociable, loving music and dancing. She loved going to the Goodwill store with her good friend Pearl Strong, to look around or just to bargain shop.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lon and Eliza Ann Corry; daughter, Melvalene Jordan Colclough; brother James "J.T." Morrow; and great- grandson, Zakai Williams.

She leaves cherished memories to her children, Gena Webber Hood of Charlotte, NC and Rev. Willie Givens, Jr. of Shelby, NC; brother, Alonzo Morrow of Shelby, NC; sisters, Peggy Morrow Brown (Ernest) of Charlotte, NC and Penelope Morrow of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, India McMullen of Gastonia, NC; Celita McMullen of Greensboro, NC, Christopher Walls of Kings Mountain, NC, Allen Walls Bey of Kannapolis, NC; Nina McMullen of Greensboro, NC; Courtney Hood of Charlotte, NC; eleven great grandchildren; aunts, Annie Mae Terrill of Philadelphia, PA and Lottie Lipscomb Morrow of Shelby, NC; sisters-in-law, Portia Jamison Morrow and Deborah Castor Morrow; special caretaker, Mark Smith; special friends, Pearl Strong and Helen Banner, both of Shelby, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives including the Morrow, Corry, Hosch, Manning, Terrill, Townsend, Hardin, Accor, Smith and Jeffries families and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Shelby, NC at 1:00 p.m.
