Melissa Irene McKinney (Willis), age 60, of Kings Mountain passed away on a bright and cool Saturday morning, January 8th, 2022.

She was born in Lincolnton, NC on June 5th, 1961 to her father, Glenn Wesley Willis Sr. who preceded her in death, and her mother, Elise Irene Guiton. She was a beloved mother to Shonta Adams and Irene Smith and a loving Grandmother to Clay Bradshaw, Terry Smith, Georgia, Missy, and Arbella, and sister to Glenn Wesley Willis. She was a dedicated girlfriend to Don Helton and a great friend to Rick and Donna Helton and Sylvia Young Turner.

She worked at Waffle House for 9 years. Melissa was also a dedicated Girl Scouts leader for over 10 years and moved on to work with children to better their lives. She loved the Cowboys, coloring pictures, doing crossword puzzles, and enjoyed spending her spare time with children and her grandchildren. She loved shopping and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She leaves behind many friends and family who loved her and will miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at New Life Baptist Church in Bessemer City with Dr. Dennis Gomez officiating. The family will be available to speak with friends following the service.
