Memorial Poker Run held
The Cleveland County Independent Bikers recently held their 8th annual poker run to benefit the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association. A special thanks is extended to all the participants and sponsors who helped make the event a huge success. Approximately $13,500 was raised to help the victims of kidney failure in Cleveland and Rutherford counties. In 2011, the club voted to rename the annual event the Susan Renee Ledford Memorial Poker Run. Renee helped to found the association some thirty-two years ago. Despite enduring years of dialysis, four kidney transplants, and a continuing battle against rejection, she devoted her entire life working with the association to help other victims of kidney failure. Renee’s mother, Margaret said, “It is extremely humbling and gratifying  to see Renee’s life and work recognized and memorialized by people like the bikers’ club. It is people like these that will guarantee the continuation of the Association’s and Renee’s fight against kidney failure.”
