Michael Allen Melton

The most kind and gentle man left us on the morning of July 3, 2022. Michael Allen Melton, a native and lifelong resident of Cleveland County, was the son of the late Worth and Reba Melton. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Don Melton. Those of us left behind will continue our earthly journey with a heavy heart and soul that only grief can bestow. His loving family knows that he will travel in the light of joy and happiness, knowing no sadness, pain, or suffering.

Mike was a brilliant but humble man. He built a successful business from the ground up. Mike was a proud owner and operator of MACO, Inc., a heavy metal fabrication shop. Mike worked many long hours and days to build his business. Not only did he take care of the men who worked for him, but he supported many charitable organizations and local businesses. Mike was an innovator and mechanical genius who held several patents for his designs. On his farm in Lattimore, he had livestock and a shop, where he worked on various projects. He spent his time restoring antique trucks, working on his rat rod, and building a motor home. Mike enjoyed fishing, flying his own plane, and spending time on the water with his grandchildren. Devoted to family, he was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Mike was present in the lives of his family; they would often go camping and spend time on the water together. He supported the activities of his grandchildren and made lasting memories with them. Mike valued his family, faith and was a lifelong member of Double Springs Baptist Church.

Mike is survived by his wife Vickie, and his three sons Mark, Todd and wife Neely, Chad and wife Tina and his stepson Michael Freeman. He was "PawPaw" to five grandchildren: Logan, Brock, Bailey, Michael, and Matthew Melton. He is also survived by his brother Tommy Melton and wife Cindy, as well as other family and friends that he dearly loved.

Memorials may be offered to Double Springs Baptist Church, 1130 Double Springs Church Rd., Shelby, NC, 28150.

To honor the life of Michael Allen Melton a memorial service will be held in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, Friday, July 8, 2022, at 4 o'clock in the evening, officiated by Rev. Ron Arndt. The family will receive friends at 2:30, prior to the service.
