Michael "Hacksaw" Hugh Howington

Michael "Hacksaw" Hugh Howington, age 68, passed away or as he would put it, he went to hang with J.C. (Jesus Christ) on Tuesday March 2, 2021 at from home in the New House community.

Born in Cleveland County on March 7, 1952, he was the son of the late Hugh Quillon Howington and Mary Martha Grayson Howington. Mike was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Army as a demolitions expert in both the 82nd and the 101st Airborne Units. He worked for more than 30 years for the City of Shelby as the Gasline Foreman. He was am member of American Legion Post 82 and in his free time he enjoyed fishing and hunting as often as he could.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Mitchell Hal Howington.

Michael is survived by his wife of 46 years Loma R. Howington of the home, David Howington and wife Jennifer of Belwood, Windy Howington Love and husband Ronald, one sister Vicki Brack and husband Jack all of Shelby and well as, four grandchildren; Abigail Grace Love, Jesse Patrick Love, Zachary David Howington, Elijah Aiden Howington and four nephews

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Chase Robinson and Rev. Norris Willis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 pm until 3 pm in the Luna Whitatker Fellowship Building.

It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
