Millie Ruth Sanders Hartgrove passed away with her family by her side on Friday December 24, 2021 at Wendover Hospice Care in Shelby, NC.

She was born April 5,1936 in Cherokee County SC to to the late Maggie Allen and Johnson Dawkins.

A loving mother and homemaker, Millie touched the lives of so many and had a heart to listen and help her family in their time of need. No matter, if it is was cooking a hot meal, or having a listening ear, she was always a phone call away. Working many jobs in her time, from a food collector (especially beans), a taxi driver for Bap Waeaver 's cab company to a cook for the old Haynes Café, she was a strong worker and gentle soul. During her time working, Millie met amd maried John Quincy Sanders and was blessed with two daughters, Shirley Dee Sanders and Gerogia Ann Sanders. After the passing of her first husband, Millie remarried to Charlie Hartgrove and was a home maker from then on.

Millie attended Pentecostal Apostolic Church of Christ in Shelby NC under the leadership of Bishop Willie Mitchell for over 15 years. As a vocal Christian, Millie was never ashamed to speak about the love of Christ and the many battles won and blessings provided from her Lord and Saviour. Her famous line of "I can't hold my peace" would let you know it was time to pray or sing or simply worship the Lord.

Millie was a avid fisherwoman. If you could not find her at home, then everyone knew she was fishing at a hideaway lake, pond or river.. There was nothing that made her happier than to place a cane pole or rod and reel in a lake and wait for the fish to bite. If you ever had th chance to have a fun day fishing with her, you would never forget it.

Milie lived a long and bleseed life before her transition. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceeded in death by her brothers, Bobby Hopper and Willie Hoyle and sisters, Frances Allen, Betty Dawkins Lattimore and Ella Ree Hopper.
