Mr. Charles Smith

GROVER- Mr. Charles Smith, 79, of 134 Mallard Drive, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was born May 25, 1933, son of the late William Edward and Novella Greene Smith. A member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Shelby, he conducted Sunday school at White Oak Manor for many years. He worked for Petroleum World as a pump mechanic but was known for decorating his house and having open house during Christmas also he was known for playing Santa Clause and in doing so bringing joy to many during the Christmas season.

 

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Michael Smith and Harold E. Smith; two sisters, Linda Faye Bowen and infant sister Betty Smith; three grandchildren, Ronnie Chad Smith, Casie Elaine Lee, and Carmen Elizabeth Lee.

 

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nellie Lou Dover Smith of the home; one son, Ronald Dean Smith and wife Lois of Grover; one daughter, Dianne Lee and husband Wylie of Boiling Springs; one sister Brenda Kay Dover of Grover; two brothers, Jerry Leon Smith and wife Sarah, Donald R. Smith and wife Paula all of Shelby; one sister-in-law, Lucille Smith of Grover; two grandchildren, Dwan Jarvis and husband Jason, Victoria Lee Ahearn and husband Jon; two great grandchildren, Jacie and Carter Jarvis.

 

SERVICES: A graveside service will be held Friday at 12:00 pm at Grover Cemetery.

 

VISITATION: The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
