Muriel Frances Newton Bridges

Muriel Frances Newton Bridges, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 29, 2022 at her home.

She was born to the late Clarence Alexander Newton and Mary Willie Sanders Newton on October 29, 1931 in Cleveland County, NC. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Elon Bridges; daughter, Phyllis Diane Bridges; grandsons, Chad Everette Cogdell and Jeremy Rooker Logan; seven sisters, Grace Virginia Newton Adams, Louise "Sis" Newton Brackett, Faye Christine Newton Brackett, Martha Raye Newton Morrow, Shirley Ann Newton Brady, Brenda Sue Newton Pruett and LaVonda Gail Newton Wilson; five brothers, JC Newton, Charles Alexander Newton, Ben Thomas Newton, Ronald Dale Newton and Steve Michael Newton; beloved pets, "Bear" and "Lady".

Muriel is survived by her children, Vickie Auton (Jim), Reggie Bridges, Ellie Black (John), Angela Hawkins (Dean) all of Shelby, NC and Aleta Logan of Mill Springs, NC; eleven grandchildren, Lynn Honeycutt (Eddie), Bradford L. Bridges, Shannon Black (Heather), Michelle Martin (Tim), Deana Grant (David), Eric Black (fiance' Staci Michelle), Jeff Black (Jessica), Chris Strange (fiance' Brogan Riffey), Ashley Wease (fiance' Tony Hamilton), Ben Strange (fiance' Haley Williams) and Cassandra Caldwell (Dalton); twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Muriel Rayne Cogdell, CJ Cogdell, Jordan Davis, Derek Honeycutt, Taylor Black, Emma Black, Johnathan Bridges, Raven Jones, Tyler Bolick, Justing Bolick, Lane Black, Bella Strange, Brysen Rhodes, heather Strange, Hannah Wease, Ashton Wease, Avery Wease, Landon Williams, Madison Strange, Payton Strange, Addison Strange, Elijah Strange, Elonah Collins, Braylon Bridges, Greysen Caldwell and Kolton Caldwell; six great-great-grandchildren, Caspian Davis, Frankie Bolick, Caspian Bolick, Journey Jackson, Clover Bolick and Nova Bolick; brother, Ricky Dean Newton; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved pets, "Buffy" and "Buck".

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Shelby. She worked most of her life in Textiles. She loved to work crossword puzzles, listen to Gospel Music and to love on her pet dogs, Buffy and Buck. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She will forever remain in our hearts.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 05, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church, Dekalb Street, Shelby, NC 28150 with Tommy Price officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
