Myrtle Ruth Hollifield Carpenter, 87, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Born in Rutherford County, NC on April 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Crowder Hollifield and Josephine Wilson Hollifield. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bobby James Carpenter, two brothers, Pete and Lawrence Hollifield and four sisters, Ruby Smith, Juanita Bailey, Louise Petty and Evelyn Glover.

Myrtle is survived by her son, Michael James Carpenter and daughter Julie Carpenter Ward and her husband Brack. Also left to cherish her memory are her two grandchildren, Grayson and Bailey Ward and her sister, Barbara Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. David Costner offering words of encouragement for those in attendance. The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the graveside service and other times at the home of Brack and Julie Ward.
