Nancy Jean Hoyle

Nancy Jean Hoyle, 90, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Born January 28, 1932 in Cleveland County, Nancy was the daughter of the late Clarence Lee Hoyle and Johnnie Gettys Gantt Hoyle. She was a faithful member of Fallston Baptist Church where she sang in and at one time directed the choir and actively served in many ways.

She met the love of her life Billy Joe Hoyle at Fallston High School. They were engaged on the evening of her high school graduation. Bill and Nancy were married on his first seven-day leave from the Army, on March 31, 1951, and remained lovingly committed to one another for 69 years.

She worked at numerous businesses as a seamstress and retired at the age of 65 from A.V. Wray's Department Store in Shelby. Upon retirement, she continued to do alterations out of her home for many Cleveland County residents.

Nancy excelled in her lifelong commitment to be a devoted wife to Bill, who preceded her in death in 2020, a loving mother to Sandra Hoyle Crawford and Kevin Hoyle, and doting grandmother to Brooke Lee Hardin (Clint) and great-grandmother to Roan Hardin all of whom survive along with one sister; Melba Fore. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by one brother, Howell Hoyle and two sisters, Ann Southards and Doris Lingerfelt.

She found great satisfaction in many of life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed cooking; hunting seashells; sewing; playing games; gardening and flowers; selling Avon; watching game shows and soap operas. Most of all she loved being with her family and friends.

Nancy will be sorely missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is with her Savior and are grateful for the blessing of her life. Her day-to-day living reflected her devout faith, sunny disposition, and dedication to others; as her family, we will do our best to make her proud and continue her legacy until we are joined together again.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caring staff of White Oak Manor Kings Mountain and Hospice Wendover in Shelby.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Wade Dellinger and Dr. Tim Elmore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or Fallston Baptist Church PO Box 116, Fallston, NC 28042.
