Nancy Teasley Moore
Nancy Teasley Moore, of Shelby, quietly passed away on Thursday, September 20th, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center after a thankfully brief but very aggressive battle with lung cancer. Nancy was 63, born on March 26th, 1949 in Cliffside.

She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Mary Katherine Moore, of Durham, NC. She also leaves behind her loving longtime companion, Phil Southard, of Shelby. Her adoring siblings include sister Donna Connor and her husband Steve, of Shelby; brother Kenneth Teasley and his wife Jane, of Sylva, NC; brother Joel Teasley and his wife Cathy, of Shelby; and brother Allen Teasley , his wife Elizabeth and their two beautiful boys Matthew and Joseph, all of Belle Haven, VA. Also left behind is her very special cat “BooBoo” whom she cherished.

Nancy graduated from Shelby High School and then attended Lenoir Rhyne College, in Hickory. After many years in Hickory she returned to Shelby in 1987 and became an active and vital member of its community. Her vibrant personality and gregarious nature drew people to her, creating enumerable friendships in Shelby and beyond. After working in the textile industry for several years she had the pleasure to begin a career with the Dover Foundation, of Shelby. As its Executive Director, she worked alongside her dear dear friend Hoyt Bailey, the chairman of the board. All of the Dover Foundation board members were both esteemed colleagues and trusted friends. Her work gave her the opportunity to truly make a difference in Shelby. By organizing the hundreds and hundreds of requests and applications that arrive each year she helped the board sort through its decisions, allowing the Foundation to help so many local causes, churches and schools.

The memorial service will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday, September 23rd, in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home: 106 Cherryville Rd., Shelby.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Humane Society of Cleveland County, 1609 East Marion, Shelby, NC 28150.
