Myra McGinnis, CEO of Hospice Cleveland County, left, with Kathryn H. Hamrick

Shelby, NC - The North Carolina Baptist Hospital Foundation recently approved a grant of $10,000 for Hospice Cleveland County. Ms. Kathryn H. Hamrick of Boiling Springs, NC, nominated Cleveland County's Hospice as a recipient of this grant. Hamrick has served for nearly twenty years as a trustee of North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
"My mother, the late Marie S. Hocutt of Shelby, received compassionate care in May 2016 as a patient at Wendover Hospice," Hamrick said. "When I had the opportunity to recommend a local healthcare recipient for this grant, I nominated Hospice in recognition of the excellent care provided to my mother and to so many others."
John D. McConnell, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, commented: "The North Carolina Baptist Hospital Foundation supports community-based programs and services that seek to serve the broader health care needs of the population served by North Carolina Baptist Hospital, a component of Wake Forest Baptist Health. The Foundation is very pleased to extend its long tradition of "healing ministries" to Shelby and Cleveland County through partnership with Hospice Cleveland County." Hospice Cleveland County serves patients in Cleveland, Gaston, and Lincoln counties. While most Hospice patients are served in their homes, Wendover Hospice House in Shelby and Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain provide 24 patient rooms for patients unable to stay at home "My mother, the late Marie S.
