Nelene Thrift Swink age 72, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain. Born in Cleveland County on August 9, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James Randolph and Dessie Viola Oliver Thrift. Nelene was a member of Union Baptist Church. She retired from Dover Mills after 30 years of service. Nelene enjoyed traveling to the mountains and spending time with family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Ed Thrift and two sisters, Eva Self and Rachel Swink.

Nelene is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steve Swink; a daughter, Kimberly Grant and husband Dale of Shelby; two grandchildren, Josie Grant and fiancée Dylan Powers and Preston Grant and fiancée Dawn Griffin; three great grandchildren, Zachary Bernet, Harley Powers, and Trevor Grant; and nephew Ted Thrift.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of Kimberly and Dale Grant, 1908 Prentice Drive, Shelby, NC 28152
