Nell Gold Hendrick

Nell Gold Hendrick, 89, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at her home.

Born in Cleveland County, on March 4, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Dan Fortune Gold and Luna Lee Spangler Gold. Mrs. Hendrick was a graduate of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was a retired teacher from Cleveland County Schools and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was very active in the WMU and previously taught Sunday school in the children's department and the senior ladies class.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Conan "CD" Doyle Hendrick, Jr.; infant son; brother, Rush Gold; and three sisters, Pearl Barnette, Pauline Johnson, and Edith Ward.

She is survived by her two sons, C.D. "Butch Hendrick III of Shelby and Richie Hendrick of Lawndale; two daughters, Mischia Tinnin and husband Al of Connelly Springs and Karen Brady and husband Terry of Shelby; eleven grandchildren, Charity Tinnin, Faith Jones (West), Hope Tinnin, Chris Brady (Jessica), Jenny Elliott (Ben), Ashley Hendrick, Laura Hoyle (Clifton), Doyle Hendrick IV (Molly), Austin Hendrick, Winston Hendrick (Kendall) and Madison Hendrick (Hunter); thirteen great grandchildren, Kellett, Morgan, Andy, Caleb, Ahna, Jack, Ada, Sage, Ellie, Little CD, Waylon, Finn, & Violet.

The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Al Tinnin, Rev. Rick Hamrick and Mrs. Shirlene Lewis officiating. Mrs. Hendrick will lie in state from thirty minutes before the service.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
