Lawndale - Nellie Covington Costner, born December 1, 1933, to the late John
Guy Covington and Lucy Wilson Covington passed away August 19, 2017 at
Carolinas HealthCare System, Cleveland.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth
Jacob Costner; and sister, Edith Munn of San Antonia, TX.

She is survived by her four children, Jill Costner of Shelby, Jeanna Costner
of Denver, Ken Costner (Karen) of Lawndale, and Kevin Costner (Lisa) of Mt.
Holly; seven grandchildren, Kim Trabucco (Desi), Justin Allison (Kim), Josh
Allison, Dayne Costner, Kendra Martin (Alex), Brandon Costner (Haley) and
Brett Holland; eight great grandchildren, Giuliana and Vito Trabucco,
Taylor, Joshua, and Isla Allison; Riana Allison, Bryson Martin and Cason
Lee.

She worked alongside her husband for 33 years as an independent grocer and
worked as a nurse. Nellie also enjoyed spending time with family and
friends at her Lake Norman home, square dancing and playing rook. She was
also a charter member of Christian Fellowship Church.

Mawmaw was selfless. She was always a positive influence, nonjudgmental,
and accepting of everyone. She was the best mawmaw we could ever ask for.

Nellie will always be remembered for loving her family, grandchildren, and
the Lord.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. Condolences may be made online at

The memorial services will be held on Thursday at 3:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Justin Allison and Lloyd Hunt
officiating.
