Nellie Hicks, age 96, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Bostic, NC, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Albuquerque.
Nellie was born November 28, 1922 in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Lee Hunt and Finer McCurry Hunt. She was a homemaker who loved baking, cooking and tending to her family. Nellie's life was the epitome of a Godly woman who loved the Lord with all of her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hicks; son, Charles Hicks and a daughter, Carolyn Bedford and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Michael Hicks of Albuquerque, NM; three brothers, Larry Hunt, Jerry Hunt and Joe Hunt (Judy) all of Bostic and a son-in-law, Edward Bedford of Albuquerque. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kelly Bedford, Edlynn Olivas, Michael Hicks, Melissa Spangler (Jack), Joel Hicks (Shannon), Johnny Hicks, Sandra Hicks and Melanie Hicks; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Golden Valley United Methodist Church with Reverend Pat Luper and Reverend Kevin Towery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
