Nellie Irene Ellis Fraser

Nellie Irene Ellis Fraser, 95, went to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon May 12th at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Tim Trexler. A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Nell is survived by her younger brother, Roy Franklin Ellis who is married to Barbara Waters Ellis of Shelby. Nell was blessed with four grandchildren, Donna Jo Earl Bridges of Fort Mill, SC, Vance Gene Earl who is married to Susan Condrey Earl from Blackburg, SC, Bradley Steve Fraser who is married to Christina Lemmons Fraser from Shelby, and Jennifer Leigh Fraser Campbell who is married to Brian Campbell also of Shelby. Nell has 6 great-grandchildren, Ashley Earl of Shelby, NC, Chrysalis Earl Bridges of Fort Mill, SC, Paige Earl and Evan Earl of Blacksburg, SC, Christopher Campbell of Shelby, NC, and Will Fraser of Shelby, NC. Additionally, Nell had 2 great-great grandchildren, Hunter Agee and Gavin Sloan.

"Nell" was born July 15th 1919 to Roy Omar Ellis and Mamie Humphries Ellis. A native of Cleveland County, she was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, McHoyt Fraser. Together they had two children, Donice Irene Fraser Humphries who is married to Gerald Davis Humphries and Hoyt Steve Fraser who is married to Gloria Wright Fraser--both of Shelby. She was also predeceased by a sister, Madge Ellis, and one brother, "JC" Ellis.

As an active member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church for over 60 years, she was the oldest founding member and served as a Children's Sunday School teacher, led the "Sunbeams," worked with GA's and ministered in the community with her gift of hospitality. She enjoyed singing hymns and sometimes performing at her church.

Nell's employment experiences included working as a CNA at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, an inspector at the Number Three Eggplant, a cafeteria worker at both Number Three Elementary and Graham Elementary Schools. She also was a teacher/tutor in the Number Three Elementary "After School" program.

Nell was best known for her kind and giving spirit. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Mount Sinai Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Nell Fraser.
