Mrs. Nellie Mae Lail Pearson, 85 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

She is survived by her children, Gary Pearson (Bonnie) of Shelby, NC, Ricky Pearson of Shelby, NC, and Tracy Pearson (Tina) of Shelby, NC, grandchildren, Jori Medley (Tim) of Charlotte, NC, Curtis Jay Pearson (Aubrey) of Shelby, NC, Priscilla Pearson of Shelby, NC, Jessica Pearson of Shelby, NC, Nathaniel Pearson of Lincolnton, NC, Jennifer Pearson of Charlottesville, VA, and Sarah McClellan of Shelby, NC, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Jerry Lail (Mary) of Shelby, NC, a special niece, Julie Smith (Patrick) of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born November 7, 1931 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Pearson was the daughter of the late O.G. and Rosa Oaks Lail and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Irvin Pearson, and 5 brothers, Ralph, Steve, Herbert, Willie, and Wayne Lail.

Mrs. Pearson worked as a beautician for more than 50 years. She lived to shop and serve her Lord. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and taught Sunday School Class. Nellie loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She always brought a smile to your face and she will be missed by those that knew her.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Flint Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Shane Kirby. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
