New Adult Day Services Facility Opens In Shelby
“Wow,” is all James Beasley could say as he entered the front door of the new Life Enrichment Center facility in Shelby last week.
Beasley attends the adult day health center five days a week so that his daughter can go to work. “I love it here,” he says.
“Here” has always meant all of the services of Life Enrichment Center itself because not only does he have therapy, baths and haircuts there but enjoys the great breakfasts he gets every morning and the many friends he has made. “Here” took on new meaning Jan. 18 when the center moved from its location of 16 years on T.R. Harris Dr. to the new location less than a fourth of a mile away in highway distance but a light year away in state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
“What makes Life Enrichment special is the staff,” says Roger Holland of the architectural firm of Holland and Hamrick, which designed the 26,000-square foot facility. “They can do their job in any building, but our goal was to make their job easier.”
Life Enrichment expanded in order to serve more families in this community, says Executive Director Suzi Kennedy, who enrolled the first two participants more than 30 years ago when she and others established an adult day health service as an alternative to nursing home care and as an alternative to isolation at home for those who can’t be independent anymore. From that humble beginning in a borrowed Sunday school room, Life Enrichment has grown to include a facility in Kings Mountain, built six years ago, and now the newest at 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., just off Fallston Road, between Teddy and Meekins’ law office and Cornerstone Dental Associates.
Life Enrichment is now able to enroll new participants. Please call for more information or to schedule a tour of the new facility or to schedule a free trial visit for an adult of any age, who would benefit from health care, therapies, personal care, or socialization: 704.484.0405.
