New Shelby Middle School Open
Dr. Bruce Boyles and Principal, Tim Quattlebaum
As workmen continued to bring in supplies, lay carpet, add finishing touches with an intense pace, the digital sign outside on the 53 acre campus said it all. The new Shelby Middle School opened today (Thursday) with 450 seventh and eighth graders. The middle school program no longer includes sixth grade. Also pictured in the new Shelby Middle School auditorium are
Cleveland County School Superintendent, Dr. Bruce Boyles and Principal, Tim Quattlebaum. The two were in the process of checking out the new facility  to make sure that everything was in place for opening day. Dr. Boyles said that he knows of no other middle school in the country that is equal to the new state of the art Shelby Middle School. When asked about the future of the old Shelby Middle School/Shelby High School facility, Dr. Boyles said that it would become a central office for the school system as well as the location for “Turning Point Academy”.  All present school facilities will be consolidated to that one location.
