New Sheriff “Norman” Takes Oath
Sheriff Norman's family were present for the ceremony: his parents, Pat and Jim Norman; son, Alex, daughter, Breanne and wife Pam.
With his wife Pam holding the Bible, Alan Norman took the oath of office for Sheriff of Cleveland County. Senior Resident Superior Court Judge, Forrest Donald Bridges administered the oath. The special event took place at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 6th at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby. It was Sheriff Norman’s choice to have his oath of office administered in church. The church was packed with members of the Sheriff Department,  well wishers and supporters. In a brief address by Sheriff Norman, he thanked all who helped him achieve the office. He also commanded that each member of the department give “one hundred percent”. He repeated again that the door to the Cleveland County Sheriff Department “will always be open.”
