O. Sidney "Sid" Toney, age 79, of Forest City, NC, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Sid was born October 28, 1939 in Rutherford County, NC to the late TB Toney and Maude Holland Toney. He retired from Broyhill Furniture after 30 years of service as a Warehouse Manager. Sid loved his family most of all and shared with them his passion for reading. His other interests included hunting, fishing and a "Good Old Western."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Grayson Toney.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-two years, Gail Bailey Toney; three sons, Jeff Toney (Lynette) of Spartanburg, SC, Greg Toney (Glenna) of Asheville, NC, and Mike Carswell of Forest City; two daughters, Michelle Bolding of Athens, AL and Lisa Nelson (Josh) of Denver, NC; brother, David Toney (Judy) of Forest City. He was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Providence United Methodist Church with Reverend David Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center of the church.
