American Legion District 23 Oratorical contest was held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Legion Post 155 in Kings Mountain. The winner of the contest was Ryuki Deyton who was sponsored by Shelby American Legion Post 82. The runner-up was Charlie Beheler who was sponsored by Legion Post 423 in Henrietta, NC. Ryuki attends Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and Charlie Beheler attends Chase High School. Both contestants are high school juniors. Ryuki now proceeds to the Division Competition, to be held in Marion, NC on February 14th, 2015.
