Ossie Mae Parker Oates, 87, passed away on April 30, 2026, at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

She was born on July 20, 1938 in Cleveland County, NC to the late James Bruce Parker and the late Frances Hosch Parker Grier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Gardner Oates; son, Duane Bouvier Oates; brother, James Everett Parker; and sisters, Vera Lillian Parker and Elizabeth Ann Reid.

Treasured memories live on through her remaining children, Marquis Oates (Cathy) of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Oates (Goldie) of Shelby, NC, Vanchon Oates (Sandra) of Charlotte, NC, Tracy Oates and Nikki Colley (Todd), both of Shelby, NC; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and a multitude of family and friends.

Funeral services were be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Washington Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
