Over 200 Pounds Of Litter Picked Up!
On July 13th, members of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church youth group, led by Youth Pastor, Dimayquoaye Smith, chose to spend their Saturday picking up litter along Carolina Avenue and Suttle Street.
This center city area of Shelby accumulates a lot of litter tossed out by motorists or dropped by pedestrians. The youth from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church collected over 200 pounds of litter and recyclables within a two mile area. These volunteers, by their service, showed a lot of love for their community.
Keep Shelby Beautiful knows that clean communities are not just nice to look at – they are economically vibrant places where people want to live, work, shop and play. Service to the community is the ultimate declaration of love for where you live and for the people you share it with. Volunteer service is an important way that anyone can contribute to improving the quality of life in the community.
Thank you Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Youth group for your service to help keep Shelby beautiful!
