Over 350 Pounds Of Litter Picked Up By Keep Shelby Beautiful Volunteers!
Neither rain nor snow on Saturday, March 2nd, could keep a group of 5 determined volunteers from picking up litter along Eaves Road.
These volunteers worked in the cold wet weather for almost 3 hours conducting a litter sweep along the right-of-way of Eaves Road beginning at Holly Oak Park and continuing to the entrance of Heritage Oaks subdivision at Kearney Drive. They picked up bottles of glass, plastic and aluminum, fast food wrappers, and other types of litter carelessly tossed out of vehicles by others. Over 350 pounds of litter and recyclables were picked up.
The volunteers who showed their love for the community by their service were: Heritage Oak Residents -Tracy Glover, Orlando Roseboro, and Neal Poston; Keep Shelby Beautiful Commission Member – Don Costner, and Keep Shelby Beautiful Coordinator – Mary Byrnes.
Keep Shelby Beautiful knows that clean communities are not just nice to look at – they are economically vibrant places where people want to live, work, shop and play. Service to the community is the ultimate declaration of love for where you live and for the people you share it with. Volunteer service is an important way that anyone can contribute to improving the quality of life in the community.
