Pansy "Pat" Martin McMahan, age 89 of Chesterfield Dr., Belmont, and formerly of both Cherryville and Morganton, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019. She was born June 8, 1929 in Cleveland County to the late James Thomas and Carrie Cronan Martin. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church of Morganton and involved with their Beulah Group. She enjoyed playing the piano and writing poetry and short stories. Pat was also a hospice volunteer and loved to serve others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl McMahan; six sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include her children, Phyllis Powell of Lincolnton, Kathy Armstrong and husband, Craig of Lincolnton, Debbie Smith and husband, Mike of Belmont, DeLane McMahan of Morganton, and Susan Birithsill and husband, Tim of Asheville; 7 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and her heart sister and family, Pearl Creasman Kilby.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Keith Rose officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
