Parade of Tables to benefit summer camp
Contestants line the stage in the 2016 Little Miss and Little Mister pageant.

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 6 p.m., Washington Elementary School, 1907 Stony Point Rd., Shelby, will be filled with a "Parade of Tables" - 30 tables decorated and ready to be judged for themes and creativity - at the fifth annual Parade of Tables Dinner.
Guests at the event will enjoy dinner at one of the festively decorated tables and will be treated to live music from the Mt. Calvary Men's Choir and the Heavenly Horns. The dinner is hosted by Washington Outreach Ministry (WOM), a community-based organization that has provided feeding and other support programs for the Washington Elementary community since 1995.
"The evening's highlight will be the ever-popular 'Little Miss' and 'Little Mister' pageant for children under the age of 8," says organizer Shannon Ross. "Our fund-raising goal for the evening is $15,000 which will go to support the WOM Summer Camp and the Food Ministry."
The nine-week Summer Math, Science, and Health (SMASH) Camp provides two hot meals and a healthy snack daily for up to 70 children, ages 3 to 18.
"Without SMASH Camp, many of the children would miss the opportunity for academic enrichment during the summer months," says Ross. "Proceeds from the Parade of Tables will help provide scholarships to enable children to attend this summer program."
Tickets for the Parade of Tables event are $40. Donations will also be accepted from those who are unable to attend. For more information or to purchase a ticket or make a donation, contact Ross at 704-435-9001 or 704-435-3138 ext. 201, or email her at washingtonchristianacademy@yahoo.com.
