Parker-Hannifin Gear Pump Division, Kings Mountain, NC, recently initiated a program to recognize their employees for their efforts. The program is called P.R.A.I.S.E. (Parker Rewards Achievement In Superb Employees). This is a peer recognition system, where employees nominate their fellow associates for work ‘above and beyond’ in several categories. Likewise, the winners are selected by their fellow workers each month. First, second, and third place winners receive a financial reward. The program has been running for four months; the four monthly first prize winners recently attended a breakfast with the General Manager and Business Unit Managers; a quarterly winner was selected from this group.
The monthly winners are pictured above. Out of a field of approximately 30 candidates each month, second place winners were: Josh Whestine, Dennis Turner, Oliver Duffie, and Gary Smart. Third place winners were: Robert Simpson, Kurt Brandt, James Withrow, and Orlando Daniels. First through sixth place won t-shirts as well, and all who were nominated received recognition on company bulletin boards.
The program was developed by a committee of about 8 people at the Kings Mountain manufacturing location. “We feel it supports teamwork, positive attitudes, and safety awareness in our work place.” one member said. One other Parker division has already adopted the program, and it is under consideration to be presented to the other 125+ divisions within the Parker Corporation.  Provided by Stephen L. White
