Patsy Ann Callahan Botts

Patsy Ann Callahan Botts passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at home. Born in Cleveland County on April 27, 1935, she was daughter of the late William Logan and Flora Marks Callahan. Patsy attended Cool Springs High School of Forest City, where she played basketball and the trumpet in a marching band. She obtained her undergraduate at the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing in Shelby in 1956, and graduated as one of the first state Nurse Practitioners in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, with program requirements at both Chapel Hill and Duke University, graduating in 1974. She worked at Jones Family Practice for 35 years, and led the Hypertension Clinic at the Cleveland Health Department for 20 years. Patsy was a long standing member of Northside Baptist Church, and worshiped with her children and grandchildren at Central United Methodist Church. Patsy was an avid golfer, and had a love for flying as she gained instruction up to nearing her own license. She was a talented painter of river rocks, loved crossword puzzles, traveling, and especially time spent as a mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Botts, and her brother Henry Roger Callahan.

Patsy is survived by her two sons Eddie Botts and David Botts and girlfriend Kim Holland all of Shelby; her daughter Patricia Schmoutz and husband Stephen of Shelby; Grandchildren Daniel Botts, Tara Botts, Anna Botts, Michael Botts, Gracie Schmoutz, Bella Schmoutz, Cole Schmoutz; a sister, Mary Lee Curtis and husband Cromer of Forest City; and special friend Carrie Adams, RN. whom stayed by her bedside at the end.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday October 15, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Leonard and Rev. Curtis Bundy officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the sanctuary from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm.
