Paul Carpenter Wylie

Paul Carpenter Wylie, 87, of Shelby, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 13th, 2022.

Paul was born in Blacksburg, SC on December 21st, 1934, to parents Robert E. Wylie and Pauline "Polly" Wylie.

Paul graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1952 and went on to enlist in the Army. He served for a couple of years and then went to work for Coca-Cola, where he spent thirty years in a variety of management roles. In his free time, he put in many hours volunteering at local hospice centers with his wife, Daisy, and managed multiple rental properties. He had so much passion and love for helping others and continued to spread love and joy until his battle with Alzheimer's slowed him down.

He met the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Daisy Hamrick-Wylie, and married on January 12th, 1958. They went on to have two kids, Chris, who precedes him in death, and Todd Wylie, 57. Todd has 3 children, Sarah (27), Anna (26), and Michael (22.). The three of his grandchildren were the absolute light of his life and he spent every second he could with them - going far and wide to be there for sporting events, graduations, birthdays, and more.

Daisy and Paul lived a beautiful love story and were admired by so many in the community. The two were heavily involved in First Baptist Church of Shelby, enjoyed bridge club, Friday nights at the Shelby Fish Camp, family beach trips, and spoiling their grandkids. He personally loved spending time on the farm, hanging in his recliner watching a good Western, and indulging his sweet tooth. Retired or not, Paul made time for his faith and the ones he loved.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Daisy, son, Chris, parents Robert and Pauline Wylie, and brothers John and Robert. He is survived by his son Todd, grandchildren Sarah, Anna, and Michael, two brothers Alvin and Ray Wylie, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 19th, 2022 beginning at 1pm with the receiving of friends in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church downtown Shelby. The funeral will be held immediately after at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting gifts be made to the Cleveland Community College Nursing Program scholarship that was established in his wife, Daisy Wylie's, honor after her passing in February 2022. Memorial gifts may be made via check or online to the CCC Foundation with the memo "in honor of Daisy and Paul Wylie."

Robert Morgan is honored to serve the Wylie Family. Memorial tributes may be made at www.rsmorganfsl.com. Memorial tributes may be made at www.rsmorganfsl.com.
