Paul "Papa" Eugene Honeycutt

Paul "Papa" Eugene Honeycutt, age 79, of Ellenboro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.

Born December 23, 1937 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Monroe Honeycutt and Eva Taylor Honeycutt. Paul was the owner and operator of Honeycutt's Grocery and a member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. He was an entrepreneur, always stood by his family, a man of faith, very humble and had compassion for others. He was friendly and kind to everyone that came across his path. A stranger was only a friend he had not met yet. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Earley Honeycutt; two brothers, J.B. Honeycutt, Howard Honeycutt; and two sisters, Ruth Steadman and Lillian Kesterson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Joey Dean Honeycutt and wife, Tracy of Ellenboro and Keith Honeycutt and wife, April of Ellenboro; one daughter, Paulette Impinna and husband, Frank of Shelby; sister, Bonnie Honeycutt Mathis; three sisters-in-law, Joan Conner, Hazel Earley and Alice Earley. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted pet, Peanut.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Poe Jones and Rev. Keith Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Harrelson Funeral Home.
