Paul Russell Auton

Mr. Paul Russell Auton, 86 of Shelby, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
He is survived by two children, John Auton of Charlotte, NC and Brenda Chumley and husband Mike of Shelby, NC, a grandson, Michael Paul Chumley of Shelby, NC, a brother, Gordon Lee Auton and wife Vicky of Glencoe, MO, and a sister, Ann Hewitt of Hickory, NC.
Born January 1, 1931 in Lincoln County, Mr. Auton was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Beulah Louella (Holbrooks) Auton and was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Simmons) Auton, a brother, Clarence Houston Auton, Sr., and two sisters, Ruby Mae Auton Starr and Hazel Auton Dellinger.
Mr. Auton was an owner/operator of Paul Auton Plumbing in Shelby for 50 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Paul was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church and an avid golfer and classic car enthusiast.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Timothy Sims. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
