SHELBY- Pauline "Polly" Inman Matthews, 89, died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare Systems-Cleveland. A native of Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Bessie Inman of Surry County. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker, caregiver, a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and a community volunteer.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harry Mayo Matthews

SURVIVED: She is survived by four daughters, Paula M. King of Shelby, Denise M. and Mike Poole of Brevard, NC, Dawn M. and Irvin Anthony of Shelby, and Melanie M. and Milton Clark of Chatsworth, GA.; eight grandchildren, Shawn King Lockridge of Kings Mountain, Ashley Poole Falls of Shelby, Morgan Hord Parker of Chatsworth, GA, Kasey Poole Decosimo of Durham, Tyler Hord of Dalton, GA., Tony Athony of Boone, Keely Anthony Sisco of Sugar Mountain, NC; and Natlie Anthony of Portland Oregan; 12 Great Grandchildren; one brother Curt Inman of Pilot Mountain, NC. The family would like to thank the staff and friends of Carillon Assisted Living, Hall B for the love, care, and support they gave our mother and grandmother during her time with them.

VISITATION: A private family gathering to celebrate "it's a wonderful life" of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sunday 4:30 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
