Pearl, as she was affectionately called by her relatives and friends, was raised by her late aunt and uncle Mae Ethel and Roosevelt Hill after the death of her father when she was just six years old. At an early age, she came to know Christ and joined White Oak Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member for many years. She then became a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 70 years. She was known for her beautiful singing. She served on the choir, missionary president, also, on the district and associational level.

Along with her devotion to God, she was also a loving wife and mother, after raising her children she attended Cleveland Community College in order to earn her high school diploma from Burns High School. Pearl always wanted to earn her degree from the same school as her children, and this goal was realized when she became a proud graduate.

She was a woman of wisdom ahead of her time, and many sought her advice. She was always there to lend an open ear. Pearl often helped others and was thought of as everybody's mama. Throughout her travel in the United States, she never met a stranger. She was a devoted woman of faith who lived a life that others could emulate. Her faith in God carried her through life, and her light shone bright for all to see, a legacy for her family to carry for generations to come.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Moon; two sons, Timothy Moon and Larry Moon; siblings Rufus Jones, Orine Johnson Sutton, and Buster Davis; and raised as sisters, Alberta Mintz and Bette Hill.
