Pearl Towery Cooper

Mrs. Pearl Towery Cooper, 91 of Shelby, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Cooper of Mooresboro, NC, Larry Cooper and wife Betty of Mooresboro, NC, Gail Hollifield of Shelby, NC, and Barbara Fitch and husband Mike of Shelby, NC, eight grandchildren, Robert Cooper, Tracy Lanier and husband Paul, Michelle Thacker, Larry Wayne Cooper and wife Jenny, Daniel Cooper and wife Angie, Angela Hale and husband James, Melanie Smith and husband Daniel, Jessica Owens, 28 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, a sister, Thelma Johnson of Shelby, NC, several nieces and nephews and a special canine companion, Tad.
Born December 20, 1925 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of the late Lawrence Burton Towery and Nan Zora Bowman Towery and was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Calvin Walton Cooper, a grandson, Gary Cooper, a great grandson, Christopher Cooper, three brothers, James, Ivey, and Clyde Towery, and a sister, Bertalee Ingle.
Mrs. Pearl worked at Dover Mills and later owned and operated Pearl Cooper Ceramics for more than 33 years. She enjoyed music and even played in a band with her husband Calvin called "Cleveland County Partners." Mrs. Cooper was a Godly person who enjoyed painting and numerous craft projects. Her passion was her family. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was never a stranger to anyone that met her and she will be missed by those that knew her.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Gail Hollifield, Barbara Fitch, her 4 year old great granddaughter, Elora, and the staff at Wendover Hospice for the loving care that they gave Pearl.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 am Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Arthur Holland. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
