Peggy Bridges Smith, 91, of Shelby passed away on January 12, 2026.

Peggy was born on May 13, 1934 in Cleveland County, the late Collin Bridges and Zeta Holbert Bridges. She was retired from Baxter Corporation and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in by her husband, Solon Eugene Smith; son, Solon Eugene Smith, Jr.; daughter, Kathy Fielder; two brothers, Larry K. Bridges and John R. Bridges and a sister, Deanya Bridges McSwain.

Peggy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith (Alan) of Shelby; grandson, Solon E. (Tripp) Smith, III (Emily); two great-grandchildren, Bristyl Smith and Brooklyn Smith and special nieces, Kim Upton and Vickie Arrowood; nieces and nephews, Michelle Arrowood, Brad Arrowood, Shawn McSwain, Kiley Gagner, Pete Bridges and Lee Bridges.

Services will be private and held at a later date.
